Itinerary

  • Arrival at Paro Airport (one of the world’s most scenic landings). Drive to Thimphu, the charming capital. Visit Tashichho Dzong (fortress), National Memorial Chorten, and stroll around Clock Tower Square. Evening: Explore cafés and handicraft markets.

  • Buddha Dordenma Statue (gigantic Buddha overlooking the valley). Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, and Motithang Takin Preserve (Bhutan’s national animal). Optional: Archery range visit – try Bhutan’s national sport! Overnight in Thimphu.

  • Stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m) for 108 chortens and Himalayan views. Hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility). Visit Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress at the confluence of two rivers. Overnight in Punakha.

  • Short hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten for stunning views. Optional rafting on the Mo Chhu River. Leisure evening in Punakha Valley.

  • Scenic drive through forests and villages. Visit Gangtey Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most peaceful spots. Walk the Gangtey Nature Trail — through meadows and pine forests. Overnight in Phobjikha Valley (home of the rare black-necked cranes, Nov–Feb).

  • Interact with locals, visit the Crane Information Center. Optional: Short hike to Khewang village. Evening bonfire and stargazing in the valley.

  • Scenic return drive to Paro. Stop at Wangdue Phodrang town.

  • National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang, local market

  • Iconic 4–5 hour trek to the monastery perched on a cliff. Return to Paro and relax with local food and cultural show.
